The last time I saw Journey was in 1986 at The Meadowlands Arena in NJ. I do remember that show, since it was one the first arena concerts I went to and I also snuck down to the floor seats. Journey put on a great show that night and they still are 28 years later. Although Steve Perry is no longer in the band, Arnel Pineda sounds incredibly similar to Perry. In addition to his great vocals, Arnel brings a lot of energy onstage, interacting with the crowd and his band mates every chance he gets. Since Neal Schon is such a great guitarist, I was glad he got to show off his playing during a few songs. Behind the drum kit, Deen Castranovo gets to contribute not only his playing but vocally as well. Deen sang lead on Mother, Father. The set list contained all the big hits and a couple songs from the most recent album "Eclipse". This summer tour continues through August.
Camera & Shooting Info: Canon 70D, Canon 18-135 F3.5-5.6, Panasonic LX7. Since you can't use the photo pit at PNC, I made a decision to not shoot from the crowded center aisle and go to the right aisle and it paid off. I was in front of Neal for all 3 songs and got great shots of him and Arnel came over a bunch of times. Lighting was very good and they had led screens across the back.
