Michael Schenker Fest - The Space At Westbury, NY 5/12/19

Michael Schenker brought an epic show to The Space At Westbury in NY. There was no openers for this show.

Michael Schenker has been making history, playing rock guitar and writing music for over 40 years. Spanning early Scorpions, UFO and has led the Michael Scheker Group for decades. Since this tour is capturing his entire career, how do you fit that into one night? How about a nearly 3 hour show with 4 different singers. Deemed "The Resurrection Tour" the vocalists included Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet, Robin Mcauley and Doggie White. Each singer had a his own portion of the show but they mixed and matched the singers together throughout the night. It was alot of fun seeing the singers interact with each other and share the spotlight. I have never seen so many smiles coming from everyone on stage.

Everyone came to see Schenker play and he barely left the stage at all for the entire show. Mike's playing was great and had many chances to show off his solo chops. Mike showcased 4 different signature Dean Flying V guitars throughout the show. The crowd loved whenever Schenker was soloing but I am a huge fan of his rhythm playing.

One thing I thought I would never see live was Robin Mcauley performing songs from the 1987 MSG album "Perfect Timing". I loved that album and to see him perform "Love Is Not A Game" was incredible. I actually attended the video shoot for this song back when it was filmed at a college in New Jersey. Robin's voice is very strong and for me was one on the nights many great highlights.

Doogie White has been singing for MSG for awhile and he was the last singer to take the stage and I really like the single "Take Me To The Church"from last years album. Doogie has some great pipes and is very entertaining on stage. You don't see many singers rocking a kilt but Doogie seems more than comfortable wearing it.

The band played in front of a huge "Michael Schenker Fest" banner that pictured members of this tour. It did include drummer Ted McKenna who passed away suddenly in January. Hopefully there should be another U.S leg later this year to hit different parts of the country. Please make sure you try and experience this show if you have a chance.
