Disrupt Festival - PNC Bank Arts Center, NJ 7/6/19

The Rockstar Energy Drink "Disrupt Festival" stopped at the PNC Bank Arts Center in NJ. The Used headlined the main stage with support from 10 other bands.

The inaugural Disrupt Festival featured 2 stages and a total of 11 bands. The main stage was headlined by "The Used" with support from Thrice, Circa Survive, The Story So Far and Atreyu. The Festival stage was headlined by Sleeping With Sirens with support from Four Year Strong, Memphis May Fire, Trophy Eyes, Juliet Simms and Hyro The Hero. Going into this show, I had only seem Circa, Memphis and Atreyu before so a lot of the bands were firsts for me.

Starting the 9 and a half hour show off on the Festival stage was "Hyro the Hero". Singer Hyron Fenton never stopped moving and was all over the stage, jumping off of speakers and going into the crowd to start a mosh pit and the end of their set. He was soaked from the extreme heat and humidity.

Next up was Juliet Simms and so was a quick rain shower. It didn't really bother the fans since it cooled things off. Juliet Simms blend of straight ahead rock and a little punk won over me and the early crowd. The only band of the day I missed was Trophy Eyes as I grabbed a quick bite during their set. I was looking forward to seeing Memphis May Fire again since I saw them in late November and they put on a great show. It was great to hear their latest single "Heavy Is The Weight" live. Following them was the rock/punk Four Year Strong. These guys were all energy on stage from the first note. They were trying to fire up the crowd the entire set and keep the mosh pit going. Closing out the Festival stage was Sleeping With Sirens. They definitely deserved to headlining the stage as they had the most vocal reception from the crowd. Tons of energy from the entire band and even got a circle pit started around the guy at the sound board.

The main stage opened with metalcore act Atreyu and I also had just seen them late last year. These guys are going to be on my regular concert list when ever they come around. Awesome live show and good to hear them play the latest single "House Of Gold" live.

Next up was The Story So Far and honestly I was not sure what they were doing. They barely moved the entire show and the singer stood with his hands behind his back while singing. Compared to the energy most of the other bands had, they were a disappointment. They sounded good though. Circa Survive followed them and singer Anthony Green showed the crowd how a live show is done. The entire set he was singing his ass off, working the stage and even going into the crowd a couple times. Circa had one of the best sets of the day plain and simple. Following them was Thrice. They had amazing and very beautiful lighting for their set. The highlight for me was hearing the song Black Honey live for the first time. Goosebumps, wow! Love that song.

Closing out the day and the main stage was " The Used". I honestly was going to leave after a few songs as I was running on fumes from the long day. I ended up staying until the end because these guys blew me away. I had never seen them before but singer Bert McCracken won me over. Great singer, energetic performer and is really what a great front-man should be. The crowd came alive when they came on. Hopefully Disrupt Festival gets another run next year and they keep ticket prices reasonable as they did this year.
