Rock Out With My Shot Out: Steel Panther - Sherman Theater, PA 3/31/18

Steel Panther brought their "Sunset Strip Live!" tour to the Sherman Theater in Pennsylvania.

Steel Panther come through the NJ area about once a year and by that time I'm craving to see them live again. I couldn't make the NJ show at Starland Ballroom a few days earlier so I made the trip out to the Sherman Theater in PA. No matter the venue, these guys have the live show perfected. If you have been to a Steel Panther show, it's the usual mix of great music, raunchy laughs and lots of women.

Steel Panther have been playing strictly original music the last 3 or 4 tours but they decided to mix it up this time around. Still touring from their last album "Lower The Bar" that came out a little over a year ago, they wanted to recreate the era they love. The "Sunset Strip Live" tour celebrates the 80's glam metal scene and the famous street in West Hollywood that so many bands played. They also added a huge backdrop that had all the signs of those legendary clubs like the Whiskey and the Rainbow. The band sprinkled in popular cover songs throughout their set by Ratt, Bon Jovi, Van Halen and Ozzy.

Singer Michael Starr brought a young lady up from the crowd named "Katie" to help him perform "Girl From Oklahoma". She actually did an amazing job singing parts of the song with Starr. After that they invited another 20 or so women on stage to dance along as they performed "Livin' On A Prayer" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me". One of the funnier moments of the show was when they performed "Crazy Train". Michael Starr came out with his hair combed back and did his best Ozzy Osbourne impersonation. He mimicked Ozzy's stage moves and threw in a couple Sharon's for good measure.

I also have to note how great and enthusiastic the crowd was for this show as Starr let them sing a few verses from the song "Community Property". They were even singing along loudly to the songs playing over the PA as they were setting up the stage. What better way to get yourself pumped up along with a few drinks for another great Steel Panther show.
