The Darkness - Starland Ballroom, NJ 4/21/18

The Darkness brought their "Tour De Prance" to the Starland Ballroom in NJ. Diarrhea Planet was support for this tour.

I have never seen "The Darkness" before and honestly I was blown away by these guys. Their live show was a lot of fun and the band sounded awesome. Most of my recent concerts have been extremely entertaining and it seems to be a running theme for this year, including crazy shows by Sabaton, Steel Panther and now The Darkness.

Lead vocalist & guitarist Justin Hawkins has more personality than most entire bands. He is the ultimate front man that knows how to work a crowd and put on a hell of a performance at the same time. From his cheetah printed body suit to David Lee Roth inspired split jumps, he can really work a stage. The body suit didn't make it through the entire show as Justin was in his boxer shorts by the encore.

One of the many show highlights is when Justin asked an audience member to pull up the lyrics of "The Proclaimers" song on their phone. He then took the phone and the band played a couple choruses from their song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)". The crowd loved it. Justin also tried to throw one of his guitar picks off a couple of disco balls hanging from the ceiling. He was unsuccessful but was very determined to pull it off.

The band is currently touring in support of their 2017 release "Pinewood Smile".
