The Scorpions made a stop at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, NY on their 50th Anniversary U.S. Tour. Seattle rockers Queensryche was support for this tour.
It's hard to believe the Scorpions have been around for 50 years. What is even harder to believe is the energy this band has on stage. Singer Klaus Meine, guitarists Rudolph Schenker & Matthias Jabs were running & jumping around all over this huge stage from the minute the show started. You don't normally see that in bands that have been around for 50 years. Drummer James Kottak's solo was performed while suspended about 20 feet in the air. You can actually see in one of my pictures below, he is standing on top of his drum kit during the solo showing off his "Rock & Roll Forever" back tattoo.
The Scorpions are supporting there recently released album "Return To Forever".
This NYC show was filmed live by Yahoo and streamed all over the world. Not only did they put on an incredible show but this tour has amazing production. Fantastic lighting & sound, a huge screen that spanned the entire length of the stage behind the band and an additional screen on each side. They also had a runway coming out from the stage into the crowd. The band took advantage of the runaway numerous times, even performing entire songs from the front of it.
The only thing that could have made the show better would have been a few more songs such as "Tease Me Please Me", "Holiday", "Six String Sting and one of my favorite Scorpions songs "China White". With the bands large catalog it's understandable you can't fit every song on the setlist. The band wanted to play songs throughout their entire career on this tour, with a few surprises.
This was hands down one of my favorite shows of the year. The Scorpions are amazing live and if you get a chance to see this tour, it is not to be missed.
