John 5 and The Creatures - Highline Ballroom, NY 2/12/18

John 5 brought his insane guitar wizardry to the Highline Ballroom in NYC.

John 5's main gig is playing lead guitar for Rob Zombie but he still finds time to put out his own albums and tour his solo act across the U.S. He is currently supporting his recently released first live CD "It's Alive".

Trying to compete with Rob Zombies's crazy stage show would be challenging but this does not stop John 5 from trying. When John is playing with Zombie their massive stage show is horror themed but John 5 did not fool around this tour. His drummer was flanked on each side by 4 huge Halloween inflatables and a couple light up gravestones center stage. John also wears masks and veils during a couple songs. I personally love custom guitars and John has a few awesome standouts. One looks like a green lava lamp and another like a light-bright. One I never saw before was one that shot red lasers out the front. I have pictures of all of them below.

John 5's talented playing is mostly hard rock and metal compositions but he actually adds in a variety of styles. Its amazing to see him go from insane metal shredding to a song with country blue-grass picking. He always keeps his playing interesting and very melodic but is always coming up with something new.

The entire show was basically a highlight but a couple notables was John playing Metallica's "Enter Sandman" without vocals and another song that John played 25 of metals biggest guitar riffs. He actually played the vocals of "Enter Sandman" as guitar notes while the crowd sang the famous chorus. John always has a couple creative tricks up his sleeve when it comes to his playing and this time he actually incorporated a talking doll and toy gun.

John still has U.S. dates booked through late April so if he is in your area make sure you catch his incredible playing.
