Foreigner - Capitol Theater, NY 2/13/16

Foreigner made their annual stop at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY for a special acoustic show.

Foreigner is still going 40 years strong and tonight's performance was a full acoustic show. I am not sure how many acoustic shows they are doing the rest of the year but you could tell this was a special night to see them. These intimate acoustic shows have been getting a very positive reaction from the fans.

This was the third year running that Foreigner has played The Capitol Theater in February and it has coincidentally been on the coldest day of the year for these shows. The extreme cold was the running joke of the night but was most notably right before the hit song "Cold As Ice".

To hear all Foreigners hits done acoustically was refreshing and really let the vocals shine. Singer Kelly Hanson's voice did not disappoint the entire night. The other 5 members of the band each sing background vocals and the harmonies for these songs sounded amazing. Some of the acoustic songs have different arrangements that let the band give them an even different feel. Another great addition to these acoustic shows, it lets Mick Jones and Kelly tell interesting stories before each song.

The Port Chester High School choir also joined Foreigner on stage to help them perform "I Want To Know What Love Is". It is very cool that they let them do this year after year and inspire kids to get interested in music. More bands should take note of this.

Another interesting fact about the show was that I was seated next to a gentleman that was good friends and a roommate years ago to band member Thom Gimbal. He said Thom contacted him a week back and asked him to be his guest at the show. He didn't know that Thom was in Foreigner.

Foreigner does not disappoint live, so please check out these guys acoustic or plugged in. They have shows booked all over the world through August 2016. The show set list is below.
