Dream Theater is currently touring in support of their self titled album and after 30+ dates oversees they are back in the US. This tour is being billed as "an evening with" Dream Theater and that is exactly what fans are getting. No support bands on this tour but these guys are playing a ridiculous 3 hour set each night. There is a 15 intermission in the middle with a mix of people playing Dream Theater songs & hilarious infomercials starring the band.
Dream Theater is arguably one of the most talented rock bands currently and they prove it each and every time I see them. Mike Mangini is now well integrated into Dream Theater and is fun to watch him play that monster drum kit of his. Overall this was a very entertaining show that consisted of songs from there entire career. The only thing missing for me personally was them playing "Metropolis Part I: "The Miracle and the Sleeper" , since this is one of my favorite Dream Theater songs. I did finally did get to see them play this live on there last tour.
Shooting info: Interesting that there was no photo pit for the show and a section of seats in front of the stage. There was about 5 feet from stage to front row and we had 15 minutes to shoot instead of the normal 3 song rule. Very good lighting overall for the entire show. Gear: Canon 70D, Sigma 24-70 F2.8, Canon 18-135 F3.5-5.6
